Common Water Problems > Chloride

CHLORIDE

High concentration of chloride imparts a salty taste to water. When chloride is present in concentration greater than 250 ml/L it imparts an undesirable taste to water.
Drinking water with high chloride concentration is not harmful to health, however, high chloride concentration are nearly always accompanied by high sodium concentration.

Those on low sodium diet or with high blood pressure or heart diseases should consult their physicians before consuming such water on daily basis.
Chloride is effectively removed by reverse osmosis or distillation.
